The quick verdict
The Sony NEX-C3 is a small way into interchangeable lens photography. Its 16.2MP APS-C sensor and Sony E mount make it worth considering when you want a light camera mainly for still photos.
The tiny grip, limited controls, and 720p video are the main compromises. I would look at the complete camera and lens setup before choosing it for size or price.

Photos and lens choices
The APS-C sensor provides enough resolution for everyday photography and sharing. A suitable lens gives you control over focal length and aperture, with a broad selection of Sony E mount options.
Older manual lenses can also be used with the correct adapter. Check the exact mount and supported functions, since an adapted lens may require manual focus and aperture control.
A small body with a small grip
The NEX-C3 keeps the body light by using a small grip and relatively few buttons. Larger hands may find it cramped, and more settings require the menu.
The 3 inch screen tilts up and down, but it does not face forward and has no touch controls. Check that the grip feels comfortable with the lens you plan to use. A large lens can take away much of the small body’s carrying advantage.

Video, ports, and focusing limits
The 720p video is a clear limitation if recording is important to you. There is no standard external microphone jack, and the proprietary accessory terminal does not accept ordinary hot shoe equipment directly.
The HDMI port is mini HDMI, not micro HDMI. Check the cable connector before buying. Also check card access with a tripod plate fitted, since a plate can make the bottom card compartment awkward to reach.
Older autofocus is best approached with realistic expectations for dim light and moving subjects. A burst rate alone is not a reason to choose it for demanding action.
Buying a used NEX-C3
Check the sensor, autofocus, screen hinge, buttons, card slot, lens mount, battery, and charging setup. Confirm that an included lens focuses correctly, and compare the full kit price rather than the body alone.
My verdict
I would consider the NEX-C3 for a small photography kit with a suitable E mount lens. Its appeal is size and lens choice. For regular video, a forward facing screen, or more direct controls, I would compare another body before buying.
