Canon Rebel T7 Menu Missing Settings? How to Unlock the Full Menu
Published · UpdatedThe quick answer
If your Canon Rebel T7 only shows two red shooting menu tabs, turn the mode dial from an automatic mode to P, Tv, Av, or M. Press the Menu button again, and you should now see four red shooting tabs with the additional settings.
The Rebel T7 hides some advanced options in automatic and scene modes. Switching to a Creative Zone mode changes the available menu for that mode. It does not add those controls permanently to every automatic mode.

How to show the full Canon Rebel T7 menu
- Look at the mode dial on top of the camera.
- Turn the dial out of the automatic or scene mode you are currently using.
- Select P, Tv, Av, or M.
- Press the Menu button.
- Check the red shooting section. You should now see four pages instead of two.
In the video, I switch the camera to P mode and reopen the menu. The two additional shooting pages appear immediately, giving access to more of the settings you need to fine-tune the camera.
Why does the Canon Rebel T7 hide menu settings?
The Rebel T7 changes its available controls based on the shooting mode. Automatic and scene modes are designed to make more decisions for you, so the camera removes advanced options that do not apply or that could interfere with the automatic setup.
P, Tv, Av, and M are the camera’s Creative Zone modes. They give you more control over exposure and expand the shooting menu. You do not need to install firmware or change anything permanently.
Which mode should you choose?
| Mode | What it controls and when to use it |
|---|---|
| P | Program AE. The easiest starting point when you want the extra menu pages while keeping exposure mostly automatic. |
| Tv | Shutter priority. Choose the shutter speed to freeze action or show movement. |
| Av | Aperture priority. Choose the aperture to control depth of field while the camera selects the shutter speed. |
| M | Manual exposure. Set both shutter speed and aperture yourself. |
If your immediate goal is only to reach the extra menu pages, start with P. That is the mode used in the demonstration, and it reveals the expanded shooting menu without requiring you to set every exposure control manually.
What if settings are still missing or unavailable?
First, confirm that the mode dial clicked fully into P, Tv, Av, or M. Then close and reopen the menu. If the camera is between dial positions or still set to an automatic scene mode, the expanded shooting pages may not appear.
This fix specifically addresses a Rebel T7 that shows only two red shooting tabs. The menu also changes for Movie mode and Live View, and an individual option may be unavailable because of another active setting. If you can see all four red tabs but one item is dimmed, check that feature in the camera manual instead of assuming the entire menu is still locked.
The full menu is only the first step
Switching to P, Tv, Av, or M gives you access to the additional shooting settings, but opening every menu page does not automatically improve the photo. Change one setting at a time, make a test shot, and learn what it affects before moving on.
For the quickest fix, use P mode, reopen the menu, and confirm that all four red shooting tabs are visible. From there, you can work through the Rebel T7's photo settings and build a setup that matches what you actually shoot.
